To Promote Angola, Bikers Ride Across South America
What better way to promote your country and help expand its narrative if not through travel and travel by bike no less! At least, that’s what a bunch of motorcycle riders are doing. This month, at least 10 Angolan bikers started a race in South America in order to better publicize Angola.
The race, tagged “Back to the World of Motorcycle Project”, began at the Angolan embassy in Buenos Aires and will cross 33 cities in South America including Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador and Colombia. The last leg of their trip, their arrival in the city of Bogotá, Colombia, is targeted for April 16.
How are they surviving on the road? Well, they’re being accompanied by a service vehicle carrying spare parts for the bikes (in case they break down or something), food, water and medicine.
The bikers have received quite a bit of support so far with even the Angolan ambassador in Argentina warmly greeting the riders, while they were leaving Buenos Aires, and praising the initiative; an initiative that’s also supported by the Embassies of the Republic of Angola in Argentina, the Argentine Embassy in Angola and Argentine institutional bodies. Several Angolan and Portuguese companies are sponsors.
With the goal and common determination of positively showcasing Angola, the group intends to continue traveling the world, after this trip, in order to continue positively promoting Angola with everyone they meet. Cool ehn? I wish I was on this trip. Do you?
