Ghanaian Creates Really Cool Art With Only Ballpoint Ben
There I was the other day, surfing the web etc etc when I stumbled across some drawings by Ghanaian artist, Enam Bosokah who creates striking art with the use of a ballpoint pen. For those of us who have lived on the continent, by ballpoint pen I mean biro and not some fancy ink-dipped pen. Enam Bosokah uses biro to create his drawings.
Enam’s inspiration for his art comes from his surroundings, the people he sees around him, and the many black icons that he’s drawn. When it comes to art, he believes that it is not about the end result but about the journey and how the journey makes you think and feel. Ponder that!
Rather than name his style of drawing specifically thereby confining it, Enam describes it as “freestyle” because it can change at any given moment. He has a simple reason for using a ballpoint pen: “It sends out a loud message to the African community, one that almost everyone can relate to. I feel that most Africans underestimate themselves to the extent that they do not dare to dream. Just as we do not accord the pen the respect that it deserves, in having played a substantial role in making the great men of our societies today. Let us make every opportunity count.”
